Sanctuary

I.
Oasis,
timeless hearth and home for the heart
Gently,
silently these stones, glass and sanctuary
Create a space for tears and laughter of community
Echoing,
A chorus of gratitude and solicitation.
It’s ribbon of understanding
For the compassionate sinner and the saint,
For the stranger and the wanderer,
For those who cross beyond this life
providing A merger of all sentient beings
coming here engaging in practice and nuances of prayer
and by presence and out stretched palms,
we’re remembering and letting go,
of the tumultuous din
and the strain of modern life.
II.
Awakening tired,
early on wintry, blustery mornings,
heading out two shovels Slung over one’s shoulder,
one feels the urgency and the serenity that the gate will
Open and beckon us
Welcoming us home for good.
One need never despair that what you do is enough.
We're sustained even by many onslaughts,
and stood through
Ordeals with vigor and gladness in our hearts.
Always proclaim a jubilee for we know we belong here.
We know that truly we are all welcome and have a place.
We know that we will be remembered in the ever changing landscape
WE KNOW we are blessed by our footsteps up the worn and polished path.
Even here and now,
in these unfamiliar surroundings
we’re comforted and embraced.
